What's New 6.1.909 - 3rd November 2015
- German language support for Macrium Reflect Free Edition
For Windows installations using German locales a new option to install Macrium Reflect in the German language is now offered for Macrium Reflect Free Edition. To change the language for existing installations please press the keys Ctrl + Shift + L after updating.
- Reflect Network authentication settings copied to Windows PE
Network authentication settings saved in 'Other Tasks' > 'Edit Defaults' > 'Network' are now copied to the Windows PE build. This enables easier access to images saved to authenticated network shares from Windows PE.
Bug Fixes
- Rescue media driver issue
The rescue media wizard could incorrectly detect selected 32/64bit PE type. This would then cause selection/auto-location of required drivers for PE to fail. This has been resolved.
- Image mounting
The wrong incremental could be opened when mounting delta indexed incremental images. This has been resolved.
- PowerShell RoboCopy synchronization issue
RoboCopy synchronization could fail if the source or target path had spaces in the folder name. This has been resolved.
- Windows PE 10 network share access
A network share with no authentication could unnecessarily prompt for a user name and password. This has been resolved.

- Delta Index restore problem
When restoring an Incremental with 'Delta Index', if there were zero changed blocks since the previous image in the set, then the restore process could fail to restore. This has been resolved.

Selecting a path with a very large number of files to scan for updated drivers could cause Reflect to crash. This has been resolved.

A rare program crash could occur on the final page of the restore wizard in Windows PE. This has been resolved.

Error messages for a failed logon attempts were truncated in the logon dialog. This has been resolved.
Please note that when using Windows PE 10 it may be necessary to prepend the network user name with '.\' to successfully authenticate. i.e '.\username'.

- Delta Indexes for Incremental Images
More efficient Incremental index storage offers faster consolidation and smaller file sizes. This option needs to be enabled in v6.1. See this KB article for more information Note: Rescue media must be built using v6.1 if you use delta incremental indexes.
- German language support
For Windows installations using German locales a new option to install Macrium Reflect in the German language is now offered in the full installer for Home, Workstation, Server and Server Plus Editions. This will be made available for the free edition soon.
- Windows PE 10.0
The latest Windows PE 10 is now included in the rescue media build wizard. PE is now the default option for Windows 8.0 and later. Windows PE 10 offers support for Windows 10 compact installs and Windows 8.1 Wim Boot file systems. Note: If your system requires PE 10 then you will be prompted to create PE 10 rescue media when starting the rescue media wizard.
- Destination drive letter discovery
The destination drive unique volume GUID path can now be saved in the backup definition file. Saving the backup destination volume GUID path instead of the drive letter enables Windows to assign different drive letters to USB drives without affecting the backup destination detection. Note: This option is disabled by default. Please see this KB article for more information.

- Crash when deleting all Backup Templates
A program error could occur if all backup templates were deleted. This has been resolved.
- Dynamic Software Raid issue
Systems using Dynamic Software RAID volumes could fail to create Differential or Incremental images. This has been resolved.
- Incorrect taskbar tray message in Windows 10
"Backup Started" tray message would show in Windows 10 when editing a backup definition. This has been resolved.
- Rescue media wizard not auto-detecting USB drive insertion
If a USB stick was inserted while displaying rescue media wizard burn page then it was not always detected by plug-and-play. This has been resolved.
- File and Folder backup maximum file size issue
A File and Folder split backup could cause verification failure if the split file size was too small. This has been resolved.
- Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Restore
Clean installations of Reflect would sometimes fail to extract the required files for the Mailbox Restore process. This has been resolved.

Server Plus SQL database backup files are now more efficient and backup files may be reduced in size.

The expiration date for v6 trial installations could be incorrect when installing a trial on top of the v6 Free Edition. This has been resolved.

- File and Folder 'Add Folder' browse button disappearing
Certain dialog controls are moved when the Windows Font setting is changed, this caused the 'Browse' button in the 'Add folders' File and Folder backup dialog to be hidden. This has been resolved.
- Microsoft Exchange retention rules
MS Exchange backups may not run the retention and consolidation rules specified in the backup definition. This has been resolved.
- Crash during backup
A program error could occur if multiple backups are sent to the same target folder from different PC's at the same time. This has been resolved.
- License dialog error
When registering Macrium Reflect the license dialog could prevent execution with an error 'The license key has not changed'. This has been resolved.

- 'swapfile.sys'
Data from the the Windows 8.0/8.1 temporary file 'swapfile.sys' is now excluded from images.
- Windows 10
An in-place upgrade of the Windows OS to Windows 10 will retain the Macrium Reflect license after upgrading.
- Technicians USB stick improvement
The Macrium Reflect Technicians USB stick will now ignore bad sector 'CRC' errors by default. A summary of bad sector will be displayed in the Image log.
- Technicians USB grace period
A 14 days 'grace' period has been added to the expiration of the Technicians USB stick.
- Backup set error detection
For scheduled images, when creating an Incremental or Differential Image, If corruption is detected in the backup set index then a Full image is automatically created.
Bug Fixes:
- Free space threshold check-box not copied from defaults
The default selection for free space threshold was not copied to backup definition files when creating a new definition. This has been resolved.
- Extended partition table sequence
Restored images of MBR disks where the extended partition table is out of sequence could cause corruption of the restored partition table. This is a very edge case where the partition table was originally initialized outside of Windows. This has been resolved.
- XML list view hidden
The list of backup definitions could be hidden if the lower widow is dragged to the top of the container. This has been resolved and restarting reflect restores the original position.
- Maximum file size setting
If the Maximum File size setting was changed mid backup set then the value from the Full image was always used. This has been resolved.
- Crash during consolidation
A program error could occur if an incomplete backup set was detected in the backup target folder. This has been resolved.

- "Failed to create empty document" message at start-up
A fresh install of v6 over an existing v5 install could cause an error message box to be displayed when starting Reflect until next reboot. This has been resolved.
- Unnecessary backup file 'Splits' when free space is low
When starting a backup the maximum backup file size was set to the remaining free space on the backup drive. This is unnecessary if a 'Free Space Threshold' is set in the retention rules and could cause an unnecessary 'split' of the backup file. This has been resolved.
- Windows PE build failure
Windows PE rescue media could fail to build if the location of the PE files was on a disconnected drive or if there was insufficient free space. This has been resolved.
- Default retention rules ordered incorrectly
In the 'Edit Defaults' 'Retention Rules' property page, the selection for 'Backups', 'Days' and 'Weeks' was not in the correct sequence. This has been resolved.
- 'Differential' option not available when selecting the 'Other Actions' menu in the 'Restore' tab
The Differential backup option was missing if the backup was created with 'the 'Synthetic Full' option checked. This has been resolved.

You can now enter the password '$PROMPT$' in the backup definition and a password dialog will request the password during backup execution.
- Desktop shortcut prompt for backup type
You can now create a desktop shortcut for an xml backup definition that prompts for backup type (Full, Diff or Inc).
- VBScript improvement
VBScript now uses 'robocopy' to synchronize backup files when 'Directory Synchronization' is enabled in the VBscript options dialog.
Bug Fixes:
- Mouse scroll wheel issue
The mouse scroll wheel would not scroll the backup definition window. This has been resolved.
- Retention issue when running a Diff or Inc from the 'Restore' tab
Reflect could incorrectly apply retention rules when a Diff or Inc backup was run directly from the restore tab. This has been resolved.
- Free disk space problem with DFS shares
Reflect could incorrectly report the wrong free disk space if a Distributed File System (DFS) share was used as the backup target. This has been resolved.
- Backup time incorrect if the backup took more than 24 hours
The time to complete a backup would be incorrectly reported if the time was over 24 hours. This has been resolved.

- Backup destination with > 4TB free space reporting issue
Backup destinations with more than 4TB of free space were being misreported as 4TB in the backup log. This has been resolved.
- Dynamic Disk Imaging Issue
Imaging of Dynamic Disk Volumes would fail has not been assigned. This has been resolved.
- DiskRestore Issues
The embedded DiskRestore application in Macrium Reflect was not in line with the current Macrium Reflect theme. This has been resolved.

- Date edit too long for some international settings

When cloning using the Windows PE rescue media, Reflect would incorrectly prompt to save an XML definition file. this has been resolved.
- Technicians portable USB stick issue
The Technicians portable version of Macrium Reflect would build a 'Trial' version of the rescue media. This has been resolved.
- v5 upgrade of XML definition
A v5 XML definition would incorrectly use the global v6 retention defaults if DSM was disabled in v5. This has been resolved.
